On the afternoon of Dec. 26, 2018, Yewhing’s overseas employees gathered together to celebrate Christmas and New Year. Yewhing Fun Games were solemnly held on the football field in Yewhing Base.

The games were presided by Dai Peishi from Financial Department of Yewhing and Fiquerido, an Angolan employee. To open the games, Mr. Pang, General Manager of Commercial Department of Yewhing, made the opening speech, “On the occasion of Christmas and New Year, Yewhing’s overseas employees gather together and share this nice moment, firstly to demonstrate the good corporate culture of Yewhing, secondly to improve the cultural exchange between Chinese employees and Angolan employees, to deepen our friendship, to build consensus and to reinforce the centripetal force of the team.”

Then Dai Peishi and Fiquerido introduced the rules of the fun games. The games were divided into five matches:

1. Relay race with tied legs

2. Rope jumping match

3. Melon eating match

4. Water transporting relay race

5. Tug-of-war

All the matches were team competitions. There were six teams: Security Office team, MDC1 team, MDC2 team, Commercial 1 team, Commercial 2 team, Furniture Factory team. Chinese and Angolan employees were assigned by their departments to joint the games together by mixing male and female players.

After reading the game rules, the players were eager for competition. After the games started, the active players tried their best and cooperated with each other. The games went on in order. The crowd chants rose here and there, louder and louder. The funnest game was relay race with tied legs. Some employees jumped like frogs, some wound their way like snakes. The most competitive game was the tug-of-war which required great efforts. The players stood in lines and made poses. They grasped the hemp rope firmly with two hands, crouched and leaned back their upper body. Upon a whistle, everyone has vein-laced arms, fine hair erected and red brilliant face. Foot against foot, leg against leg, they took all their strength. The rope was locked in a see-saw struggle. Cheering squads ran front and back and used all their skills anxiously wishing that they were on the rope themselves. Finally, the balance inclined to the side with greater force. The final whistle went, the winning team jumped for joy and the losing team was exhausted.

With the final whistle of the chief referee, the games started in a joyful atmosphere and ended when everybody was longing for more. Regarding single games, Furniture Factory team won No. 1 in the relay race with tied legs, MDC1 team won champion of rope jumping match, Security Office team won No.1 of water transporting race, Commercial 2 team won No.1 of melon eating match and No.1 of rug-of-war. Regarding team total scores, Security Office team won the champion and Furniture Factory team won the Runner-up. The fun games not only gave the scores, but also improved the friendship, reinforced the union and warmed the atmosphere so that the employees forgot their homesickness, which was the original purpose of this activity. Finally, Mr. Pang of Commercial Department and Mr. Jiang of MDC gave the prizes to the winning teams to encourage them. Today was significant to everybody. A new year will begin and everybody will welcome a new spring with active mindset and full enthusiasm for work.
